Next stop, the beautiful Lago Maggiore, home of the second largest lake in Italy.
Our gracious hosts, Gerd and Rabea’a Ziegler whisked us away on a tour through Verbania and Stresa, home of the infamous Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees. After a delicious Italian lunch we stepped into the days of Napoleon, as we experienced the majestic splendor of Isola Bella featuring a baroque chest of wonders, an exquisite garden and palace, where Napoleon and his wife Josephine Beauharnais stayed often as guests.
Hesitant to leave, we packed and headed through Switzerland on our way to Germany, feeling as though we could be French, Italian, and Swiss all at once.
